  • McDonald’s says restaurant closures in Russia will cost them $50 million a month. Despite being closed, they are continuing to to pay wages to the 62,000 people employed by them in Russia.
  • Europe has given themselves just five years to break their dependence on Russia oil. According to the European Union, they rely on a staggering 40% of Russia imported natural gas, as well as about 27% of oil imports, and 46% of coal imports.
  • Scientists confirmed the existence of a new covid delta-omicron hybrid variant in the US and Europe. The new variant, dubbed deltacron, has been identified in several regions of France, Denmark, and the Netherlands, and appears to have been circulating since the start of year.
  • Dolly Parton has declined her nomination for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, saying ‘I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.’
  • HBO Max and Discover Plus are Being Combined into a Single streaming service. The merger is set to complete next month, however, combining the streaming platforms will still take some time, so in the immediate future, the services will be bundled together before the new app is ready.
