It is legal to root/jailbreak your cell phone (1:36)
Many companies try to scare us by saying that rooting or jailbreaking our phones will void the warranty. However, this is simply untrue. This was established in a law from 1975. Read more about it here. We talk about what rooting is and what it actually takes to void your warranty.
