Post run meal on the LCHF diet - What should you eat after running?

Today on the Ask Prof Noakes podcast we discuss what you should eat as a post run meal on the LCHF diet. Over  the years a lot has been said for chocolate milk to be the best recovery drink. I asked Prof Noakes what, in his opinion, would be the best post run meal on the Low Carb High Fat diet?


Professor Tim Noakes: Bacon and eggs! What I mean is that you eat a real meal. That is the key. The whole point is that once you get foods that are processed, they contain all sorts of rubbish that you don’t need. That is where the marketing has been so successful, in suggesting that nutrition can come down to one nutrient that you need at a particular time of the day.


So, once you’ve run you need more carbohydrates and it must be refined carbohydrates because that’s going to fill you glycogen stores. But the problem is that you eat that and it replaces good whole food which will give you all the nutrients that you need.
