Do young runners have different needs to adults on the LCHF Diet?

If you have kids then this episode of the Ask Prof Noakes podcast is for you. Cindy Jackman got in touch and asked if there is much difference in the LCHF diet or way of eating for young runners as opposed to adult runners?


Prof Tim Noakes: No, not at all. My idea is that this ‘diet’ is ideal for children from birth onwards. Again, we get progressively sicker with age, we become more insulin or carbohydrate intolerant. And by the time you are my age, about 65% (in my view), are carbohydrate intolerant.


Young runners will benefit on LCHF

You can live a much healthier life by never stressing your body by over-eating carbohydrate. So, young runners will benefit too.


Another thing that we are realising, is that high carbohydrate diets really interfere with your concentration. If you’re at school and you’re eating high carbs every 5 minutes, your concentration levels will not be good. So that’s another advantage that we have. READ MORE
