Mark is all about business when it comes to baseball.  When we had our conversation he was actually at the baseball field hours before their Big 12 opener against Kansas.  Our conversation was unique because you get to hear a coach in the making – Mark has his heart set on coaching when his playing days are over.  What makes it neat is he is currently one of the best players in the country and learning from arguably the best college coach of all-time in Augie Garrido.  Oh by the way, right now Mark is on an 88-game reached on-base streak dating to last season….  Hear what Mark has to say about his daily approach to baseball, Chicago, and lacing up for hockey.

Mark Payton is an outfielder for the Texas Longhorns.  He is currently on an 88-game reached on-base streak and is the active Big 12 leader in total bases, walks, triples, doubles, and on-base percentage.  Mark loves the Blackhawks and does is best to educate is roommates about in Texas about the great sport of hockey.
