Alice Brinkman is the founder of Reach Studio Art Center, sharing her journey from being a textile artist and surface designer to founding Reach in 2003 with a focus on providing art-making opportunities for underserved youth. With a keen observation of the lack of creative outlets for children, Alice established Reach to empower them to make their own artistic decisions and take pride in their creations. 

Melissa Keeley, the incoming executive director, brings her background in photography and arts administration to continue Alice’s legacy at Reach. Melissa’s experience in fundraising and her passion for the visual arts make her a fitting successor. 

REACH Studio Art Center is a vibrant non-profit community art center offering creative out-of-school engagement in the arts for all ages and abilities with classes and workshops taught by local teaching artists. Free and sliding-scale fee programs in a variety of arts media and disciplines happen at REACH, a campus of seven studios located in the REO Town district of Lansing, Michigan, or around town through the REACH Art Truck program.

Together, Alice and Melissa discuss Reach’s diverse range of programs and classes, catering to individuals of all ages and skill levels, and the organization’s commitment to providing scholarships to reduce barriers to access.
