We recently discovered an issue with our Blubrry player that resulted in episodes being preloaded on a subset of shows automatically from Feb. 20, 2024, to July 15, 2024.
This preloading inadvertently caused an inflation in the download statistics for a subset of podcasts. As a result of this correction, some users may notice a significant drop in podcast statistics starting mid-July. The current statistics that podcast hosts see now reflect the accurate listener data without the preloading effect.
We strive to provide accurate and reliable statistics and are increasing audits across all shows to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
