What if the theatre could know you better than you know yourself? What if it could observe you? Sense your emotional state of being? Ultimately, what if it could assess how you feel…and determine your ticket price accordingly? Some would argue (James, for instance) that this could be a boon to theatre companies, both artistically and financially, assuming that they’re interested in producing the quality they profess to. Others (like Eric) would counter that such a model is inconceivable, since technology – despite what it “sees†on the outside – can never get beneath our skin and into our minds and hearts to know what is truly going on. And you? How do you feel? In the second half of our show, we bid a fond farewell to our friend and colleague, Rebecca Jacobson. She reflects on her time at Willamette Week and the landscape of Portland’s theatre community.
