A review of Profile Theatre’s production of Sarah Ruhl’s Dead Man’s Cell Phone

Triangle Time…with Nathan: Triangle Productions’ production of Martin St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth: An Unexpected Journey

While Eric is on “sabbatical†for the next few weeks, we’ve lined up a series of guest co-hosts to attend shows with James and provide their thoughtful and entertaining opinions. Our first fill-in is Arturo Martinini, whose artistic production in theatre crosses continents. He brings his keen, if skeptical, eye to both Profile Theatre and Artists Rep’s performance space for the very first time. Sitting down in Studio 5UDBS, he provides a no holds barred perspective to the building and to this first offering of Profile’s 18th season: Dead Man’s Cell Phone. Without missing a beat, he simultaneously concocts Manhattan’s for the crew. And he provides food. And, as if all that weren’t enough, he proves himself a more responsible reviewer than your weekly hosts by having read the play. Does all of that preparation equate to a more positive estimation of a show? Then our other trusty critic, Nathan, joins us to review Triangle’s fourth production of their 25th season. It’s some new thinking on some established makers of theatre. But don’t let the reliable elements fool you. This thing’s gonna get out of control.
