Portland Center Stage’s production of Second City’s Twist Your Dickens

“Artslandia Magazine’s mission is to connect and expose our readers to all music, dance and theatre our city has to offer and in doing so inspire readers to discover performances that provoke and enliven them to become a lifelong patron of the arts.†That’s straight out of Artslandia’s media kit. Coincidentally, so is the majority of our show this week. See, we’ve been wondering for a while about this organization’s raison d’être and its aspirations with regard to the arts in Portland. How could we not be curious, given the frequency with which we’re handed seemingly duplicate copies of a single edition of their magazine? So through the lens of their marketing materials, we head down the rabbit hole of trying to make some sense of Artslandia Magazine, the institution behind it, and the demographics which sustain it. There’s a play review buried in the back, but don’t miss the more substantive – and more arts relevant – discussion this week.
