Getting Started
She started in the restaurant business and found she liked working with people. The people skills she built in the restaurant industry would later opened up doors for her while working in property management in high scale apartment communities up and down the east coast.  This love of working with people later transitioned her to working as a marketing and training director. She took a break to raise a family for 8 years and then she decided she wanted something besides home life that brought in more income while helping people and she found her opportunity in coaching.
She recognizes Ann Starrette as a mentor. She Considers Anne like a long lost mother as she lost hers to cancer at a very young age. She had never recognized the impact that had on her because she was so young at the time of the loss. When she met Anne she realized this was new source of motherly wisdom she never realized she had missed. Ann ended up being a big part of inspiring Nicole to proceed in the coaching field.
Challenge
She started in 2007 and was invited to a prominent university to talk at the senior girls luncheon. She was a hit with the students but, later she was taken aside and asked where did she go to college. She, was then met with shock when she replied she had not attended college. The college would no longer allow her to speak because she did not have a 4 year degree. Nicole however is not offended by this. She says “The women in charge of this event has a product and it is a four years degree so the people she allows to represent. Must be someone that has a 4 year degree and have used the product.” But, with two more classes she is proud to say she will have that 4 year degree.
The “Win” moment
Her wins are like bricks in a wall each one advances her project. Two weeks before the interview she had just gotten back from an incredibly busy 7 days. She had been invited to speak at the North Carolina society of human resource management conference. They had an opportunity to have a booth on the trade show floor. She had some hesitation but decided she would go. She invited one of her colleagues with her and it was a huge adventure. So She finished the conference, a shine retreat, returning home to get in the car to workshops and a keynote before finally getting home. She does not know that many other women of 48 putting in similar energy into their projects. Its moments like that she can ask is the work she puts into the project inline with what she is building.
Proudest achievement, accomplishment, or contribution
If you are going to give birth to children you better make sure that they are good ones.  When her son joined her in her work.  When she was part of a Seminar for Tomorrows Leaders where she would have 100 teenagers. Her son went with her then voluntarily came back the next 4 summers.
