Top Dance Songs Of 2022 Volume 1

December 18, 2022

Since 2020, Billboard has eliminated its coveted Top Dance Club Songs chart and its Top Dance Electronic Dance Songs chart has dwindled into a state of irrelevance as the reporting methods used for rankings are rigged in favor of full album releases giving preference to full albums as opposed to individual songs. Another chart regularly visited was MusicVF whose charts for the U.S. and the U.K. were of significant importance has dropped their Top Dance Songs of the Year chart. This has left a void where Spotify or even to a lesser extent — Beatport would pick up the fragments but they too have abandoned their year-end charts with Beatport favoring editorial lists and Spotify leaving it up to amateur accounts to create their own, which leaves a lot to be desired. Individual YouTube accounts have posted consolidated mixes of the biggest dance songs of the year but once again — they're subjective and generally rush the songs to get them squeezed into a single mix.

Most of this shift is due to the pandemic and various smaller clubs and venues closed for 2 years and didn't have the cash flow to pay rent or re-open once the economy improved. That and music festivals were canceled (unless you live in a dumbass state like Florida where they pander to the least informed of their population). All of these factors had a ripple effect throughout the music industry hitting dance music the hardest.

For the past 15 years, Party Favorz has been offering the most comprehensive picture of the biggest dance songs of any given year that date back to 1999. We've also compiled "ultimate" collections of various decades that dig deeper than year-end charts for those dance gems that were underground hits and never charted or had a low position on the charts despite an overwhelming fan base. Our year-end offerings also contain bootleg remixes of popular songs that were never intended for the dance floor but were so big at radio or streaming that a series of fanmade remixes would appear and gain traction in clubs.

Long gone are the days when most record labels felt the need to pay professional DJs to remix their artist's pop releases allowing bedroom DJs and up-and-coming DJs/producers/remixers to do the work for them. You can't put a price on that type of publicity and it's all for free. Then there are the independent releases and partnerships with professional remix outlets like Tiesto and top artists to create dance hits. Even David Guetta has supplanted Dave Aude and remained relevant as more artists seek his expertise in crafting dance hits that crossover to radio and streaming with full support from their major labels.

Rest assured, Party Favorz is the defacto source for your club adventures by capturing the highest moments in dance music throughout 2022. I dare say, you won't find anything near as comprehensive and on the mark as our year-end Top Dance Songs series. Call us arrogant, but we spend countless hours going through all the past year's releases and matching them up with views, streams, ranking, and overall popularity from various sources to create this series. Comparing them to the sets we released throughout the year — we're pretty consistent in picking the hits. There are three songs we missed this year (included here), but that was only because we generally don't use electronic dance music (which can be anything except dance floor ready) unless there are accompanying remixes for the song, which usually doesn't happen until they've exploded in popularity. Sometimes those remixes don't show up until later and by the time they do — we've moved on. So, we're not claiming perfection in our choices but we're as close to accurate as you're likely to get.

For the moment, these are your top dance songs of 2022 (or at least half of them). Volume 2 will be dropping by mid-week. Until then...ENJOY!
