It's been a hot minute since volume 6 of Thank God It's Disco was released. Party Favorz has been compiling new updated Disco classics for a year now and we've got not one release scheduled but two.

For the newly initiated, the Thank God It's Disco series is a compilation of Disco classics from the 70s and 80s that have been remixed, reimagined, or simply updated to today's standards with slight embellishments while staying true to the original song. It's not uncommon for the use of the same song reworked by a different DJ/producer to appear across this series because it's a different point of view. Though, there are a few instances of duplicates by the same artist, which is not intentional. Sometimes, songs get re-released and show up in my DJ Pool without my realizing I had already used it previously but there aren't that many.

This first volume is crammed with a lot of buried classics that many of you diehard disco fans may have never heard before. However, in many cases, the beat was sampled and used in a different song from the 90s or even today. While I'm fairly well-versed in this arena — I do occasionally get surprised when I hear one of these re-works was sampled in a more recent song that I thought was original. A good example of that is "She Can't Love You" by Chemise which shows up in volume 8 of this series. The song is an underground house classic from the early 80s that I had never heard before until Sean Biddle's "Get Up and Dance" sampled it in the early millennium. Here, Purple Disco Machine updates the original making it shine basking in its 80s synth glory. There is a multitude of these examples that are a hit upside the head. You know these DJs have been seriously digging through the crates to come up with these gems. Either that or they were club kids during the era while I was in high school.

The age of the original songs shouldn't prevent anyone from enjoying these songs because many make up the framework of today's hits (look no further than Beyonce's "Renaissance". Besides, all these songs have been updated and maximized for today's listening environments.
