The 1001 Nights Podcast

Night 22: Story by Mac Barnett

October 07, 2015

In night twenty-two of the 1001 Nights Podcast, we bring you our second tale from chapter four, the Story of the Humpback. The Story of the Humpback is a winding tale of coincidences in which multiple parties believe they are responsible for killing a humpbacked man, who in reality choked on a fish-bone. All parties come before a king and are each asked to tell a story that’s “more wonderful and strange and exciting” than the story of the humpback’s many deaths.

The second of these strange and exciting stories is told tonight, with the entirety of “The Story Told by the Sultan’s Steward,” reinterpreted by Mac Barnett (http://www.macbarnett.com/). Mac is a New York Times bestselling author of over 18 books for children, including two Caldecott-Honor-winning collaborations.

The 1001 Nights Podcast is created and produced by Morgan Dubin and Nathan Kane. Scheherazade is voiced by Arielle Siegel (http://www.ariellesiegel.com/) and music is generously provided by Pharaoh’s Daughter, Hayvanlar Alemi, and Eric Hopton.
