The 39th Annual Utah Boat Show is coming up this weekend, 6-9 February, at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. I’m going to be there interviewing industry leaders and local dealers about the newest things in ski boats, V-drives, water skis, and other gear.
Nowhere else can I get this kind of access to industry leaders from almost every major manufacturer of skis and boats at one time. Maybe with a trip to Washington state and Florida I could get the same interviews, but this sure saves me travel time and costs. Look for more to come after the show!

HO’s Clean Edge technology
On the lead in to the 2014 Utah Boat Show, I had the chance to sit down with Joe Sassenrath of HO Sports. Joe is HO Sports’ Norther California, Nevada, and Utah Sales Rep. He knows the line pretty well.
HO Skis
HO’s speed skin
Joe and I talked about the HO ski line for 2014 and some of the amazing design ideas they’re adding to their skis this year, like Speed Skin and Clean Edge technology. These ideas have been bounding around the wakeboard and cycling industries, but are pretty new in the water ski world.
HO Boots
We also talked about the HO Exo Boot and Binding system on their highest end skis, and the advantages of a hard-shell boot for top skiers. I also asked about HO’s history with creating comfortable boots for skis – something I was introduced to back in the 1980s. (Yes, I am that old.)
HO Design Team
I also learned a little bit more about the HO ski design team. If you could create a dream team to create skis, you would see a lot of the names at HO on that list. I don’t want to spoil all the introductions here, but listen to Joe as he talks about the great minds and incredible talent on the team who created the skis HO is showcasing this year. You may be surprised, and I’m pretty sure that you’ll be impressed.
