Open data holds the potential to open up the energy market in the UK. Small, renewable generators produce almost 15% of the UK’s electricity, but they often lack the industry knowledge to get the best rates in selling their power onto the grid. Open Utility is a company that uses open data to help people buy and sell renewable energy. James Johnston explained their plans to create a peer-to-peer energy marketplace.
