This man set up a $2Billion business…

May 13, 2016

Now he’s partnering with a company in Ballymoney. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

Steve Sarowitz set up on-line payroll software company Paylocity in 1997. It’s now valued at $2bn. He believes there’s an opportunity to build a similar company in the UK, and he’s working with Payescape in Mid-Ulster to do it.

“What we found in the UK is that the technology is not as advanced relative to the US. The UK is treating payroll from a technology perspective the way we did it 20 years ago.”

Plus we’ve been talking with Mark Smyth. He’s behind a wide range of businesses from a renewable heating firm, a laboratory in Dundalk and now one of the UK’s top weight loss bootcamps. However his world was turned upside down by a family diagnosis of Huntington’s disease. He’s now treating fund-raising like running a business. We’ll be finding out about his time at the Marathon de Sable and how he tests if a business is going to be successful or not.

Our start-up is Kraydel. With an ageing population Kraydel is aiming to develop an unobtrusive remote monitoring system to enable older people to live at home for longer (and remove some of the stress for their worried offspring!)
