We’re aiming to double turnover by 2018

4 Beauty Group is growing quickly. Their sales in the GB market have grown 37% in the last two years. The Carryduff company now employs 30 people.

You may not be familiar with the company, but you’ll know some of their brands. He-Shi, and Tantastic are available in stores right accross the UK.

Nick McDowell is the MD. He’s had a varied career; working in sectors as diverse as mining, engineering and business software . It means he considers himself “product agnostic” in the best possible way. “You have to care about your product, but I’ve seen a lot of firms in a lot of different industries get blinded by their product. It doesn’t work if the consumer can’t engage with it. Love the ways your customer can benefit from the product.”

We’ve been talking to Nick about 4 Beauty’s plan for growth over the next couple of years. (It’s fair to say, they’re pretty impressive targets.)

This week we’re also featuring veteran enterprenuer and investor John Teeling. The serial entrepreneur sold Cooley Distillery to Jim Beam for $95M, and has listed 15 exploration companies in oil, gas and minerals on stock exchanges. He say he sees opportunity everywhere. (We found out which sectors in particular in our interview.)

Plus, we went down to see Generation Innovation’s “Night of Ambition” at St George’s market in Belfast. What does ambition mean for our young entrepreneurs of the future?

Our start-up is Road Guardian. If you think you could benefit from a constant companion on your dash, then listen in.
