The Last Ship Season 1 Episode 4 - "We'll Get There"
Episode
In this episode, the USS Nathan James faces an internal enemy--namely, the ship propulsion and drinking water systems.  Again this week there was much more exposition than action.  Listen to the podcast for our analysis.
This Week in Naval History
There are two significant dates this week for the same ship. On July 12, 1951, the Navy announced that Newport News Shipbuilding would build the "Worlds First Super Aircraft Carrier."

This new ship, hull number CV-59, would be named USS FORRESTAL in honor of the late James Forrestal, the first ever United States Secretary of Defense.

The keel for Forrestal was laid on July 14, 1952. At the time, it was the largest vessel ever constructed, displacing just under 60,000 tons, and measuring over 1,000 feet long.
