SPS008: Supervising Sound Editor Penny Harold

Penny Harold is a Sound Supervisor, Sound Effects Editor, Dialog Editor and Sound Designer.  She has been nominated for an Emmy twice.  Penny comes from Shreveport Louisiana and attended Chapman College in Orange County California where she studied film.  She interned at Smart Post Sound which introduced her to all aspects of sound from the assembly to delivery.  Penny assisted and mentored under Sound Supervisor, Lisa Veratakis, and now supervises the FOX hit series “Modern Family”, ABC's “Fresh Off The Boat”, and “Life In Pieces” and BET's “Being Mary Jane”.  Penny possess a diverse skill set that has her cutting dialog on some shows, sound effects on others and completing sound design on others.  She supervises as well as cuts.  She enjoys the variety and the fact that different parts of her brain are stimulated depending on the job she takes on.  Creativity and problem solving all play a role with this job.  Penny has also edited on feature films such as “Save The Date”, “In Your Eyes” and the IMAX documentary “Living In The Age of Airplanes”.  She discusses her approach to supervising and sound design as it relates to story telling and dealing with children for ADR.
