#129 - Daily MG - Life is Yours to Win by Augie Garrido - 1 of 6

"The average college baseball player is certainly not immune to scattered thoughts and distractions. So, we try to help them control their monkey minds and calm themselves by practicing mindfulness, which is a form of meditation borrowed from Asian cultural traditions. In the simplest terms, mindfulness calls for shutting out distractions, observing your own thoughts and actions in the moment, and understanding the process.
The practical use of mindfulness in coaching is to teach our players to be aware of their thoughts; particularly the fears, insecurities, and other negatives that can distract them and make it difficult for them to perform at their peak levels."
Augie Garrido is the winningest coach in NCAA D1 baseball history.
