Jennifer is a Board-Certified Music Therapist living in Macomb, Illinois, where she teaches music therapy at Western Illinois University, a position she has held since 2006. Her shift into college teaching came after nearly a decade in clinical practice working with persons in mental health treatment and persons who have developmental disabilities ages 0 to 3 and in adulthood. Jennifer completed a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from Tennessee Tech University (1992), a Masters of Music in Music Therapy from Florida State University (1998), and a PhD in Music Education and Therapy from Florida State University (2006). She has completed advanced training in music therapy with infants in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU-MT), Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), and hospice and palliative care music therapy. She has served in elected, appointed, and volunteer positions in music therapy associations in several states and regions. Her term as an Associate Editor for Music Therapy Perspectives ends in December 2022, after serving the journal for 7 years. Jennifer described herself on Facebook as a Music Therapist, Guitar Enthusiast, Cat Person, and Runner. She currently plays guitar and sings harmony vocals with the WIU American Music Ensemble.
