More Front Wing

MFW podcast episode 89

July 25, 2013

On this week’s More Front Wing podcast, Paul and Steph take a look at the wide variety of stories that resulted from the IZOD IndyCar Series doubleheader weekend in Toronto. They start with the controversy associated with the return of Brian Barnhart to the race director’s chair and work their way through the resurgence of Target Chip Ganassi Racing, the penalty to Dario Franchitti, the (eventual) debut of standing starts in IICS competition, the phenomenal weekend had by Sebastien Bourdais, the perception of doubleheaders from the paddock and promoter points of view, and much more.

They also look at some of the other stories making headlines in the IndyCar nation in recent days, such as the release of Turbo and what the box office numbers mean thus far, the impact that the NBC Sports Network contract with NASCAR may have on IndyCar’s TV ratings, and the decision by the Series to mandate twin turbos in all engines in 2014. And to cap it all off, the pair quickly preview some of the talking points that have already been raised heading into the next race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
