I was spending time talking with one the guys in ministry I used to mentor, whose name is Brandon Girten. We were talking about a sermon he had preached, and he said something that struck a cord with me. He said that, in the sermon, he spoke about the transformation process we go through as Christians. He told his listeners “It’s not “information equals transformation.” It’s “Information plus application equals transformation.” Notice the need to insert “application†into the equation to make it an effective formula for success. James 1:22 (NKJV) says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.†Romans 12:2 (NKJV) says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. I thought of some of the people I have known who were expert at reciting Scriptures they had memorized. In spite of this, they were never able to change and overcome their issues. They had biblical knowledge, but for some reason, they would not apply it to their lives. Then I thought about others I knew, who didn’t do much Scripture memorization. However, they had chosen to value and apply the Word of God to their lives. They made a friend of the Bible. They had listened to and applied its counsel. They saw their lives changed. I’m Dr. Bob. Application of the Bible is the key to becoming a winner in this life. It’s the deciding factor in our spiritual growth and the ability to live in wisdom. Apply Scripture to your life. Success and satisfaction will be your portion.
