Masters Milers

Masters Milers

Anselm LeBourne

April 09, 2020

My latest guest is USATF hall of famer Anselm LeBourne. Anselm is one of the most accomplished masters runners of all time. He is now 60 years old and just this year he twice broke the 60-64 age group world record in the indoor 800m. He has been breaking age group world records and winning masters World Championships for the past 20 years, since the time he turned 40. Basically every 5 years when he enters a new age group, he rewrites most of the middle distance records in that age group. His training approach is the ultimate example of quality over quantity. Even though he excels at the 800m through the mile, in many ways, he trains more like a sprinter. It was great having him on the show during this crazy time and I look forward to seeing him back on the track chasing records again when things get back to normal.
