Locking Down Our On-Demand Access: Ep. 232
All my possessions for a moment of time. --Elizabeth I (1533-1603)
Are you letting time thieves run rampant in your life? Guilty as charged! It's time to put locks on your doors. Jelly's strange encounter with Tangier Island has her rethinking the demands on her time, and developing PAPS (Personal Access Protocols).
We are all unbelievably accessible to so many people. The problem with all that access is that it sucks our time like a Dyson sucks pet hair. I remember the old days, before cell phones, when nobody could contact you after you left your house. It’s weird to think about that now. How did we manage?
Now, we are bombarded at all times of the day and night with:
Emails
Text Messages
Facebook Messenger
Phone Calls And Voicemail
Direct Messages From Social Media Platforms
Instant Messenger
ACCESS DENIED!
Worse than the demands on our time, is the EXPECTATION of an immediate response.
All this unfettered access is hurting our productivity, and we are losing control over the best use of our time. We will no longer be derailed from important tasks by these Time Thieves! Lock them out and get on with your bad self.
Love, Tim & Jelly
