How to Work a Room with Susan RoAne

January 26, 2014

Author of the best selling book How to Work a Room (which is now been updated for its 25th Anniversary), Susan RoAne in known as the Mingling Maven. Susan admits that “you are talking to  former teacher, at that time I thought promotion was sending a student up to 4th gradeâ€.  You will hear the pivotal moments that transformed this public school teacher in a successful entrepreneur, speaker and best selling author.  In fact Susan says “I am still teaching, but it is just now my audience needed bigger chairsâ€.

I was introduced to Susan by two previous guests, John Corcoran and Dorie Clark and from the moment we started talking I could understand why. With humour and top tips throughout Susan shares what creating connections that counts means to her.  Susan’s book has proved extremely popular, selling over one million copies in 13 countries as it responds to the point that “if you’ve ever walked into a gathering with a roomful of strangers and feel uncomfortable, you are not aloneâ€.  With a desire to help people to feel comfortable and confident in every room, Susan's style and approach is warming, and makes you feel very at ease.  If you are interested in networking, developing relationships and connecting with others then make sure you have a pen and paper to hand.  Of course, just listening to to this conversation is an incredible lesson in how to lead by example, being true to yourself and sharing your story.

Let me know your tips or fears when you enter a roomful of strangers and maybe we can share them or help you to overcome them (and just in case you were wondering we will share the tips and help you overcome the fears, not the other way around).

If you want to connect with Susan RoAne then you can visit her website at susanroane.com, email her using susan@susanroane.come and of course follow Susan on twitter with @susanroane - but be warned, as Susan points out at the end of our conversation, she takes this relationship development very seriously, so if she likes you, she is like velcro and will soon become a firm friend - something that I can attest to.

If you have enjoyed this conversation and others from the previous infinite pie thinkers and guests, make sure you are sharing it with anyone you believe will enjoy or benefit from it too.  Head over to the support for infinite pie page where you will find some links that may help.
