Podcast: Friday prediction podcast for the Florida Gators vs. South Carolina

October 18, 2019

GatorCountry brings you a new podcast as we bring you our Friday prediction podcast for the Florida Gators vs. South Carolina game on Saturday afternoon.
Andrew Spivey and Nick de la Torre breakdown the keys for the Gators on Saturday in Columbia as they take on South Carolina.
Andrew and Nick also predict several games around the country on Saturday, plus we predict our three players to watch for the Gators on Saturday.
TRANSCRIPT:
Andrew:                 What’s up, Gator Country. Your man, Andrew Spivey, here with Nicholas de la Torre. Nicholas, another Friday, another chance to pick some games this week. Decent week of games. Not so much in the SEC, but some decent games. Let me ask you this, Nick. This is just a little off topic before we pick games. Have you ever seen a year where there’s been such high spreads?
Nick:                         Not like in conference. Certainly, higher than you’d think.
Andrew:                 Right.
Nick:                         I mean, they’re getting covered too, I think.
Andrew:                 For the most part they are. What about the kid calling in the bomb threat because he was scared Florida was going to cover?
Nick:                         My goodness.
Andrew:                 It’s not that serious, guys. Not that serious. I guess it is if you’re depending on the bet.
Nick:                         Yeah. How much money?
Andrew:                 Still, old boy going to probably end up in the federal penitentiary for a few years.
Nick:                         Can’t call in a bomb threat on a public university that has 102,321 people there.
Andrew:                 Probably not a good idea if you’re that kid, or if you’re any kid.
Nick:                         I don’t want to make a joke about it, but they say football is different in the South, and there’s an example.
Andrew:                 It definitely is. First of all, an Alabama fan was betting on LSU. That’s progress in the South.
Nick:                         Depending on when he made the bet, it ended up pushing.
Andrew:                 Yeah.
Nick:                         His friend either pushed or won.
Andrew:                 Right.
Nick:                         He didn’t get the spread at 15, so he either got it anywhere from 12-14. Either pushed or won.
Andrew:                 Right. Exactly.
Nick:                         And his other buddy’s going to be in a federal penitentiary.
Andrew:                 That money will come in handy for bail.
Nick:                         If you won the bet, go ahead and start putting some money in your buddy’s commissary.
Andrew:                 For real. Let’s get to this game, Nick. How you feeling?
Nick:                         So, for me, in looking at South Carolina, I just think it’s a game, we’ll get into this weather, stuff like that. I just think it’s a game where Florida has more talent, more talented depth, and it’s a game where you can’t go in just roll the ball out there, put the helmet on, and we’re going to win. You can’t go into it with that mentality, but to me it’s a game that Florida should win. If Dan Mullen has the program and the players believing in themselves and working hard all week, which I haven’t heard anything to the contrary, it’s a game Florida should win.
Andrew:                 Right. Yeah. This is where good teams become great, and good teams or good programs start to turn great.
Nick:                         Yeah. This is the separator. When you’re for real, when you’re the Alabama, you go ahead. You walk into William Bryce Stadium, and you take care of business.
Andrew:                 To further my point on that, you don’t allow one loss to sink into two losses. You can’t let one game dictate the rest of your year. If the players are buying into what Dan Mullen is selling,...
