GameTime Cleveland 192: Mack is Back

April 15, 2014
Summary:

The Browns get their AllPro Center back by matching the offer sheet from Jacksonville. The Draft Day Movie bombs at the box office. We’ll have one person’s review. We’re hoping the real NFL Draft will be better for our Browns. And we hope the Indians have a better week than their recent series in Chicago. It’s still early but they hit a rough spot. Lots to talk about this week. It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike Kresic, Tom Kresic

Running Time: 46:41

1Q: Browns Match Offer to Mack

  • That didn’t take long. The team matched Jacksonville’s offer sheet within a few hours on Friday.

  • 5yr deal, which he can void after 2 yrs. Pays him $10 million, $8 million and $8 million the next three seasons — all guaranteed.

  • Mack can void the deal after 2 years.

  • He also cannot be traded and can’t be tagged (transition or franchise tag) in that time.

  • He’ll be 30 at end of YR2 of the deal.

  • He has been a workhorse. Did not miss a snap. Even played after appendectomy.

2Q: Review of Draft Day

  • stupid movie. save your money. It’s not CLOSE to being on par with Major League or A Christmas Story. At any level.

  • what’s with the scene with his Mom and the urn?

  • weird relationship between the two leads

  • Denis Leary played Denis Leary.

  • Owner (Frank Langella) never took off his sunglasses (was he drunk while filming?), flew back from NY to Cleveland in magical time, and was somehow happy with the boneheaded trades after demanding they get a QB (which they didn’t)

  • like an EA game with those stupid stadium flyovers and then the graphics to tell us which team it was the home of.

  • Intern was supposed to be comic relief, but he wasn’t funny. He was just sad.

3Q: The Real Draft Day

  • The latest mocks (Kiper, McShay)

  • SI’s Peter King says HOU, JAX, CLE and OAK all leaning to wait on a QB til Rd 2.

  • Don’t believe all the misinformation out there. It’s there for a reason.

  • What will they do?

  • What do we need? WR, QB, CB, OL, LB

4Q: Indians Struggle in Chicago

  • The rotation is a mess right now. Carrasco moved to Pen.

  • John Axford blew a save opportunity in Sunday’s finale in Chicago, giving up a 2R walk-off HR to Alexei Ramirez. That was Axford’s first blown save after going 4-for-4 to start the year.

  • Indians at 6-7 entering Tuesday’s series in Detroit.

  • Michael Bourn doing some rehab at Akron. Hopefully close to returning to the team.

  • Pestano sent down. Trevor Bauer called up (nice job in spot start against Padres).
