Episode 25: I Have a Dreamcast (Game)

August 05, 2014

Summer is almost at its end, meaning the drought of games might soon be over. Rejoice, fellow gamers! New and exciting video games might be on the horizon! Here’s hoping, at least.

On this week’s episode, we are joined by the fine folks making Elysian Shadows, specifically the engine/toolkit developer Falco Girgis, the head gameplay engineer Tyler Rogers, and the web designer and developer Daniel Tindall. Tune in to hear us interview them about the woes of indie game development, the highs of being well received and about how tiring starting a Kickstarter is.

Aside from being jealous that these guys are living the game development dream, we talk about:

  • how awesome The International 2014 was, and how you should have been there!
  • EA’s new almost PlayStation+ subscription service, EA Access
  • the financial troubles at Crytek and how things are still and unsurprisingly sunny for Sony

As always, the MP3 is below so that you can listen to it right here in your browser, or download and store it for some more nefarious purposes. Maybe make a YouTube remix, if you’re really bored. Send us the link, I would love to hear it. If automation and ease of access is more your thing, subscribe on iTunes. We’re on Twitter, so be sure to follow us there and while you’re at it, like us on Facebook! You know you want to. Questions, comments, complaints, death threats and glorious accolades should be sent to our email, which we read once every lunar cycle.

Thanks everybody for tuning in, and another big thanks to the Elysian Shadows team for agreeing to come on the show and talk about their game. Here’s hoping your Kickstarter is a rousing success!
