East Nashville Now!

Episode #13: One Voice Nashville!

November 29, 2015

On today’s show I head over to a Nashville middle school called Cameron College Prep where I meet up with a new East Nashville friend of mine, Mary Margaret Randall. Mary Margaret or M&M as her students sometimes call her, is a woman on a mission to connect and build bridges between different generations. She is doing this through her new start up called One Voice Nashville. Through One Voice Nashville, middle school and high school students have an opportunity to learn first hand about narrative journalism as they interview people at least 30 years older than themselves. As these interviews turn into conversations, students discover that stories connect lives and that these stories can serve to bridge the gap between generations. In this episode I also throw myself into the mix by interviewing a number of middle school students to find out for myself where these kids are coming from. And friends I am happy to report back that the students at Cameron College Prep are highly intelligent, very articulate and acutely aware of what is going on in the world around them.
