A Burning Bush: God Calls Moses | Ep. 048

April 28, 2021

God had a plan to save his people, the Israelites, from their slavery in Egypt. He spoke to Moses through a burning bush and told Moses to go back to Egypt. God was sending Moses to bring the people out of Egypt to safety. But Moses said, "Who am I to do this?" Moses was reluctant to do what God told him to do. But God had come down to save His people, through great signs and wonders, and through Moses, to bring them to the promised land.

Our Bible Reading is from Exodus 3:1-15.

God said to Moses, "I am who I AM. Say this to the people of Israel, I AM has sent me to you."Exodus 3:14

I am who I AM

Moses wanted a name to give to the people, a name of the god who had sent him. God answers: God’s name is YHWH (Yahweh). It's the Hebrew name God gave Himself. In the English translation, the name “Yahweh” is printed LORD in all capital letters in the Old Testament and means “I AM".
