Heartbleed caused quite a furor this week, and rightfully so. The bug in OpenSSL, an open source library used widely on Internet servers, caused us to feel further out of control of our data as bad actors could intercept communications occurring under SSL (the https in your web browser). However, there are key steps you can take to control the data on your devices. Once you’ve taken these steps, it would be beneficial to also share these tips with your clients and peers. The wider use of simple security measures means less access for bad actors to takeover devices or slip away with confidential data.
