Jesus’ family was familiar with Him. They did not believe or recognize Jesus as the Messiah. They took the gift that He had for granted as we often do. God wants us to be intimate with Him not familiar.

Jesus made the statement in Mark 3:31-35 to identify the church as the family of God. Why? Because the family of God is fulfilling his purpose; the will of God is to make disciples, take care of the needy, and to worship Him. God wants us to place Him as sovereign over our lives. Through service to God, we develop intimacy with God.

To be in the family of God, do not ask why I am here? Instead, say, “Here I am Lord to do your will.â€
