Denise Littlefield is a 51-year-old mother of three. She is a Nana, a sister, a friend, and a survivor of domestic abuse. Denise first experienced the abuse as a witness to her mother being verbally mentally and physically abused at the hands of her stepfather. However, the abuse came to an abrupt end one night when her stepfather was driving drunk and slammed his vehicle into a bridge killing two people, one of them being Denise‘s mother. Denise was six years old, her mother was 29. After this horrific situation, she was adopted by her mother’s parents and was raised and taught to be a strong, independent, loving, hard-working woman. In spite of that, in 2004 Denise found herself and her children in a domestic hell she never thought she would be in, let alone survive.

 
Denise joined us and told her heroic and emotional story of being held hostage for 36 hours. She shares her story in hopes that it may help someone recognize the signs of domestic abuse, to get help, and get out of the situation that could very well end their life.
