Episode 101: HerStory is History Series: Ruth Muskrat Bronson
This week we are highlighting Ruth Muskrat Bronson. Ruth Muskrat Bronson belonged to two different worlds. Her father was Cherokee, and she was raised in a Cherokee community in the Oklahoma territory. She was also exposed to white culture by her Irish mother, even if only through stories. From a young age, Bronson identified with both cultures, and she didn’t want to choose between the two. People describe Ruth as being years ahead of her time, larger than life, and a fierce advocate for Native Americans
