5 - Ashley Cohagen
The beautiful thing about having a show with no script is that you have conversations like the one Ashley and I had. I had no idea that our conversation would begin with swimming and end on the very important topic of body image in female athletics. Ashley did a TREMENDOUS job of opening up and sharing her own insecurities as an athlete, and what she did to change her negative mindset into a positive. Along the way we discussed Ashley’s ESPN photo-shoot, yoga, and of course swimming.
Ashley Cohagen was one of the nation’s top college prospects finishing her high school career at Pioneer High School with four team state titles and a 2006 National Championship. In high school Ashley was a nine-time state champion and a 15-time All-State selection. After high school, Ashley made her way across the street from Pioneer to the University of Michigan where she was a 2013 NCAA All-American Honorable Mention and 2012 & 2013 Academic All-Big Ten member. Ashley now works as a phlebotomist (no, she’s not a vampire).
