As we close out May and begin the final countdown to NTDC 2024, we will spend some time talking with Dan Shamrell from Oregon and Tim Blair from Tennessee. In addition to being members of the FedEx Team who have earned a spot in this year’s Nationals in Indianapolis, Dan and Tim have both shown the power that the pre-trip phase in the competition can have on your score. As you’ll hear, Dan, in winning the Grand Champion’s title in Oregon, is making his 18th trip to the NTDC. Meanwhile, Tim is now the two-time Tennessee state champion in the 5-axle division. In his rookie year of 2023, Tim earned the national award for Best Pre-Trip, an honor that Dan has won multiple times during his long and distinguished NTDC career.

As always, we’ll hear perspective from Eugene Mulero, Senior Reporter from Transport Topics. Eugene, who co-authored the book “From Roadeo To TDC” chronicling the history of the event, is joined on the podcast by Greg Thompson, who is the Executive Producer of PodWheels Powered By RadioNemo. At the end of this episode, Eugene and Greg will talk about Eugene’s work on the upcoming second edition of the book.
