Self-Images Are Built By Reflectors

January 31, 2015

You can build your self-image into whatever you want. In this post, my aim is to show you, how self-images are constructed. When you know how self-images are built, you’ll be able to take charge of the construction of your own self-image. If you understand how self-images are formed, you can consciously learn to forestall the negative impact of certain circumstances or personalities in your life. Your self-image is one of those things that you deliberately have to take charge of, every single day of your life; and make sure that it is accurate, because your self-image is a major contributing factor to your personal success.

Self-images are built by what I would call reflectors. Simply put, reflectors are those things that reflect back  images to us. I’ll use your physical face as an illustration. Has it ever occurred to you that you accept certain things about yourself based on what the mirror has shown you through the years? Your face-image is based on reflections from different reflectors: mirrors, shiny surfaces, pool of water, and so on. You get a reflection of your image by looking into a pool of water. A photo-chronic glass door beams back your image at you when you pass by it. These things are all reflectors. They all throw our images back at us.

As a matter of fact,  the picture of yourself that you carry within you since your childhood is based on reflectors. The image of yourself that you have came through reflectors. Your perception of your self-image is essentially formed via reflectors. When you think about that, you will understand what I mean when I say that your self-image is built by reflectors.

I just want you to think about that; reflect on it.
