You Need Your Team To Achieve Your Dream

January 22, 2015

“The Lord said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.  Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.                                                          ~1 Kings 19:15-17
Elijah was a prophet of God in Israel at a time when the nation had turned their back on God to worship Baal. He was appalled at the apostasy of his fellow, and tried turning their hearts back to God through spectacular displays of God’s power. However, when that failed to yield the desired result, Elijah became depressed and ran back to God in despair.

God was compelled to respond with a more strategic assignment to Elijah. The nature of his ministry changed. From the spectacular fire-spitting prophet, he became a maker of kings and disciples. While he was locking up the heavens and calling down fire, there were kings to be anointed, and prophets to be raised. Most importantly, there were seven thousand men that needed to be transformed into prophets.

Elijah became a leader that empowered others. Before now, he was a lone ranger. He functioned all by himself. He thought he could do it alone. He assumed he could achieve his God-given vision all by himself. He believed it all had to do with how talented he was, how anointed he was, and how gifted he was.

A lot of people think that way. They think it depends on how talented they are, how gifted they are, how anointed they are and how hard they work. But you come to that point in your life when you become mature; you realize that it takes a team to create a dream.

For you to achieve your dream you need a team, you need to learn how to connect with other people, to empower other people. You need to build a network of strategic relationships.

So essentially, God said to Elijah, ‘Go and empower Hazael, Jehu and Elisha.” And He tells him, ‘look, the people that escape Hazael, Jehu will slay, the people that escape Jehu, Elisha will slay.’

Jehu would go on to destroy Jezebel and the baal worship. Elisha would go on to perform more miracles than Elijah ever did. Elijah moved from getting things done all by himself, to getting them done through others. Thus, he moved into the realm of multiplied effectiveness.

Empower your team today, and see your dreams materialize.
