Genghis Con: From Miami Hustle to Phuket Dreaming

July 07, 2015

Isaac Kesington, better known as Genghis Con, has been making riveting MMA hilight reels and documentaries for the past decade.

Having become a fan of mixed martial arts while playing football in college, Genghis began editing and creating hilight reels of some of the sports most exciting fighters in an attempt to convince his friends and family to become fans as well.

In a short amount of time, Genghis Con’s epic hilight reels became widely recognized on the underground MMA scene and soon after he began creating elaborate fighter documentaries.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Genghis Khan began creating strong ties with fighters at American Top Team, one of the top training camps in the business. He quickly made a name for himself documenting the training and lives of ATT standouts such as Raphael Assuncao, Douglas Lima and Roan Carneiro.

The informal nature of the process allowed Genghis to integrate closely with his subject matter and deliver an unprecedented level of insight into the lives of these unique athletes.

With his foot firmly in the door, Genghis proceeded to create one of his most successful projects to date, the “Miami Hustle” series, which followed the lives of MMA stars JZ Cavalcante, Jorge Masvidal, Alexis Vila and Jorge Santiago.

Since then Genghis Con has continued to take on increasingly ambitious projects that have been gaining impressive levels of notoriety, the latest of which is season 2 of the popular YouTube series “Phuket Dreaming”. Shot on location in Phuket, Thailand, the show is a window into the world of professional fighters training at Phuket Top Team.

One of the most widely recognized MMA gyms in the area, Phuket Top Team has provided the training camps for a who’s who of world class talent over the years including Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, Thiago Tavares, Alistair Overeem and Tito Ortiz.

Not only is the training exceptional, but so is the lifestyle surrounding the camp, and the “‘Phuket Dreaming” series does a fantastic job at capturing the essence of island living in the area.

Join us for this exclusive conversation with Genghis Con as we dig into his past as a filmmaker, the trials and tribulations of shooting “Phuket Dreaming” and his plans to leave a lasting legacy well beyond his contributions to the sport of MMA!
