It's Travel Karma Fridays and I couldn't help but give Berlin some extra love.

After re-listening episode 20, I felt I needed to add more juice in episode 21 for Berlin, Germany as my way to pay it forward because, let's face it, not every place does tourism the right way but Berlin?

Well, you already know how I feel about it. Let's take a deeper dive!

News Update

Truthfully, I am running this episode without an interview this week because I'm just out of time. Please forgive me, I have several great interviews lined up but I just haven't had the time to get them chopped up and ready to be published.

There's been many happenings behind the scenes here. For starters, I invite you to the Google Hangout I'm hosting tomorrow at 10AM. You can join us here.

Beyond that, I'll be heading off to Zagreb, Croatia at the end of the month, where my adventures will take me as North as Oslo, Norway. I'm very excited and will be definitely share pictures on Instagram.

I also have a few creative projects lined up, which will pose an interesting problem because my energies will be all over the place. So I've been thinking about perhaps scaling back the podcast or just getting more done in less time.

The problem is, I like doing these shows live and direct. I usually record them within the day or two of publishing to keep it fresh. If I batched them too far ahead, I'm not sure if I can be as real with you as possible.

I haven't decided yet but that's the updates for now.

Back to Berlin, Germany, there are two items on the agenda that I would like to add that you most certainly won't want to miss when visiting.

Topography of Terror Museum: I have a great respect for the way in which Germany has owned up it's history. This museum is done so well, where it documents the history of the institutions of terror located in the immediate vicinity of the Nazi government district and of the crimes originating from there. It presents this history in the eyes of the perpetrators and does an incredible job of simply stating the facts of what happened.
Palace of Tears: The site of the former border crossing from East Berlin GDR to West Berlin at the Friedrichstrabe station. It was dubbed the "Palace of Tears" due to the many scenes of many painful farewells since this border crossing was one of the few places where only West Berliners could enter and leave but not East Berliners. Many stories of a divided Germany occurred here and it remains a very painful place for many Germans.

These two sights of interest are my favorite because it serves as a great teaching tool in learning the painful history of terror and division for future generations, as these topics are still very relevant today.

Not only do you see the exhibits but you also get to literally walk though the very doors and hallways as if the sights were functioning in their time.

It's amazing and has definitely left an impact.

I hope to see as many of you tomorrow at my first ever hosted Google Hangout.

If not, back to regular programing on Monday.

Cheers.
