November 23, 2019

Episode 40, two episodes one one week - we are at mid-season form over here on The Isles Faithful Podcast.

This episode, a shorter one - but we talk about this amazing stretch of games the Islanders have been playing. They are 15-0-1 in their last 16 games, points in 16 straight games which is the best in franchise history. Not only is it a record, it's the most points and wins the Islanders have ever had through 20 games.

Some other notable records?

14-3-3 - 1976-7714-3-3 - 1978-7914-5-1 - 1987-8814-6-0 - 2014-1512-4-4 - 1981-82

During this streak, the Islanders have had 17 different goal scorers, 11 different players have scored a game winning goal, they have had three different multi-goal comebacks and 9 total come back wins.

It doesn't seem to phase the team when they are down a goal, or even goals - they just play their game and seize opportunities to get back into games.

I also talk about players like Mat Barzal, Anthony Beauvillier, Derek Brassard and Brock Nelson - who've all be super hot as of late.

Also talked about is the California road trip and how it's a great time for the team to get even closer as a group, as much as they are already a tight knit group who bring their lunch pail to every single game. The Islanders stop in San Jose to see the Sharks, Anaheim to see the Ducks and finally Los Angeles to see the Kings before they return home to Brooklyn to face the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Will the streak continue? I guess we will find out, but regardless watching this team break records that the team set during the glory years is something special.
