In the UK, we call today Easter Sunday. The Americans call it resurrection Sunday, which is a far more accurate description of the importance of today. It is the day we celebrate the single most significant event in history–the Bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. 

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15 that ….

1. if Christ is not raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith (v14).

2. if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins (v17).

AND

3. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied (v19).

So, Julian looks at 1 Corinthians 15 and the good news that “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead” (v20).
