Balticon 47 Wrap-up - Part 8, Live reading by PJ Schnyder, Grig Larsen, and Doc Coleman

July 22, 2013

Welcome back to the eighth episode of the Balticon 47 Wrap up, proudly brought to you by Swimming Cat Studios. This week features the first to two readings that I was able to take part in at Balticon 47. Unlike last year, we’ve decided to publish the full reading and release it as a single episode. This year I was joined at the microphone by two excellent writers, PJ Schnyder, and Grig “Punkie” Larsen. This reading had been billed as a steampunk reading in the Balticon program, but didn’t exactly turn out that way. While each of us has written Steampunk at some time in the past, the reading itself ended up being a mixture of different genres.  PJ Schnyder starts us off with a steamy, although not Steampunk, reading from her new paranormal romance novella “Bite Me“, which is the first of her new London Undead series. This book was a sneak preview for us at Balticon, but the book has since been released and is now available as an e-book.

Next up was Grig Larsen with a selection from his forthcoming sci-fi novel Space B!tch, a story of an incredibly psychotic space captain and her crew. Grig plans on releasing this bit of sci-fi comedy sometime in the fall of 2013. Grig’s reading is a tad long, but just gets funnier and funnier as it goes on.

Last but not least, I took the mic and offered the audience a choice between a selection from my Parsec Nominated story for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences’ Tales of the Archives, “The Cross of Columba” or a new selection from my forthcoming novel The Perils of Prague. Prague won by a landslide. This year’s selection comes after my reading from Balticon 46, although not immediately afterwards. Perils is still in edits, and I am aiming for an e-book release sometime in late fall 2013, and eventually a full cast podcast release. More to be posted on this blog as things develop.

We hope you enjoy these selections, and look forward to sharing these stories with your friends. If you’ve enjoyed these readings please share them, and come back next week for more of the Balticon 47 Wrap up.
