What does it mean to have a ‘child-like’ faith? In our last sermon, we looked at Jesus’ words to his disciples in Mark 10 concerning, “[receiving] the kingdom of God like a child”. We learned that Jesus uses this illustration to draw comparisons between the faith of a child’s and adult’s faith. Where a child’s faith demonstrates total dependency to its guardian, an adult can often demonstrate independence. Where a child can demonstrate a teachable innocence, an adult can be more skeptical and demonstrate unbelief. And where a child can demonstrate a thoughtful wonder, adults often don’t have the time to be amazed. We must receive the kingdom of God with the faith of a child, ready to accept what our heavenly Father has in store for us.
