It's Quite A Living

It's Quite A Living

The Days and Lives of Singer/Actor Gloria Loring

November 03, 2020

For Gloria Loring, whom you might know as the singer of the hit song, Friends & Lovers, or you might know her as Liz Chandler on Days of Our Lives. She is also the co-composer of the theme songs for Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. Since her start as a professional singer at age 16 she's sung on the Emmy Awards, The Johnny Carson Show, The Golden Globes, even The Academy Awards. But she's also an author...and mother of superstar Robin Thicke. Hear how it's been quite a living for Gloria, and how coincidences sparked everything from career moves to her very friendship with podcast host, E.B. Moss.

E.B. was justifiably nervous when Gloria's sister, Peggy Goff Bottger, engaged her to deliver a singing telegram for the star at her going away party after a six year run on "Days of Our Lives"! They discuss that and take many other walks down memory lane -- like Gloria's appearance in a classic Carol Burnett show skit to her current role as "Nana" and the surprise of being a chart topping singer mid-retirement! The two reminisce about Peggy and how that friendship sparked many visits for E.B. to the home of the glamorous Gloria ...meeting other soap stars (one of which she was dating, which you'll hear her talk about), ex-husband Alan Thicke and, yes, even babysitting occasionally for Gloria's sons Brennan and Robin Thicke. They also discuss the spiritual side of life, watching Peggy bravely fight a terminal illness.

So this is a paean to inheriting new friends and never forgetting the old ones... while remembering always It's Quite a Living.
