The lack of basic rights for trans folks within the military, despite its perennial place as a political football, deeply affects those it marginalizes.  The military wants to “queerwash” its bonafides, convincing new recruits they care about such issues when it’s at best a milquetoast PR stunt and worst a genuine mask to “otherize” LGBTQ folks (like Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell) and deny them their basic rights, rights that cisgender troops never lose, such as the privacy of talking to your doctor.

Shiloh, Monisha, and I take some time to discuss the reality LGBTQ folks must survive inside the U.S. military.  Shiloh dives deep into their personal experience with these policies and what survival on the inside really looks like.
