The Podcast Stars
Jason Falls is the no-nonsense, loud, brash, straight-shooter who is more apt to tell you the truth about digital marketing, public relations and social media than try to sell you something. Sure, he is a well-respected digital strategist and industry thought leader, but when Falls talks, people listen. Unabashed, unafraid and unfiltered, Falls leaves audiences thinking, laughing and wanting more. Aside from his engaging talks, he is a well-respected social industry analyst, oft-interviewed and quoted by the likes of the BBC, Reuters, Forbes and more. Falls writes at ConversationResearchInstitute.com, JasonFalls.com, and GoElastic.com, among others. He has authored two books, neither of which are about his favorite topic (bourbon) and is an unabashed fan, resident, and advocate for the city of Louisville and the State of Kentucky.

Taylor Trusty steps into the arena with a background that is anything but traditional. A programmer and computer nerd since the age of 13, Taylor was working at a web design company by 15, a territory sales representative for Hewlett-Packard at 16, before becoming the head of Customer Service and webmaster for a sports memorabilia e-commerce startup near the end of his high school career. By age 20, Taylor had co-founded and sold his shares of his own upstart sports collectibles business before founding a web design/development agency, Blackstone Media. A voracious reader, Taylor is constantly educating himself in an effort to provide employees, colleagues, clients, and the wider public with solutions and advisory services that go well beyond a website. His belief that businesses should provide solutions “built with and not for” clients helps to set him apart from many of his peers in the industry.
Staying Agile
Leslie: Hello, and welcome to the Blackstone Podcast. I’m Leslie Radcliff, PR Coordinator for Blackstone Media. I’m going to be your host today as we talk to Jason Falls, the no-nonsense straight shooter from the Conversation Institute; and our own CEO, Taylor Trusty, who’s in New York City for a couple of days.

Today, we’re going to be talking about staying agile in today’s digital world. Welcome. It’s great to have you, guys.

Jason and Taylor: Thanks.

Leslie: No problem.

Jason, I heard you speak at the LDA Conference late last year and you spoke about “Hacking the Conversation.” That was a pretty impromptu engagement for you and I know you weren’t expecting to speak. Then, they had a cancellation and you couldn’t get in their flight. But I’ve got to say, I really liked it. There were a lot of really great takeaways and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to get you and Taylor together to talk about how do we stay agile in today’s world. Everything is changing and it’s changing quickly. So how do agencies, organizations, and individuals do that?

Jason: I think the Hacking the Conversation presentation — and I’m glad that you enjoyed the talk because it was kind of, “Hey, guess what?! You’re going on stage,
