Believe & Speak

Believe & Speak

Episode 131

June 29, 2022

Malachi was an Old Testament prophet, and he recorded some strong words for those who speak harshly about God.

The voices defying God make a lot of noise, but the Lord isn’t bothered. In fact, Psalm 2 tells us that he laughs at their futile plans. The verses I read in today’s episode from Malachi 3 start out with the Lord calling them out. He knows what they’re saying. He also knows that believers are affected by what they’re saying. God knows that we speak with each other about what they’re saying and how they seem to be getting away with it. That’s why he assures us that he will indeed make all things right.

There will be a day when God acts in judgment, and on that day those who honor and obey him will be spared. The New King James Version puts Malachi 3:17 this way, “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”

God hears the words of those who say terrible things about him. He also hears—and listens intently—to those of us who honor of his name. May our words always bring honor to God and may our hearts always be filled with hope.
